Product Information

This insurance plan covers all risks of loss of or damage to the declared item insured during delivery except as excluded under the policy.

This is a product underwritten by Liberty Specialty Markets Singapore Pte Limited and serviced by Howden Insurance Brokers (S.) Pte Ltd.
 

Key Product Provisions

The following are some key provisions found in the Policy contract of this product. This is only a summary and Insured Member is advised to refer to the actual terms and conditions in the contract. You may contact Customer Care for further information on the policy coverage.

Insured Member is to consult his/her servicing agent should he/she requires further explanation.
 

Basis of Sum Insured

Up to declared item value but not exceeding S$2,000 per shipment.
 

Commencement of Coverage

From the time SingPost receives / collects the declared item till arrival at declared destination.
 

Geographical Limits

From Singapore to the World and vice versa including within Singapore but excluding:

  • Any country where local legislation precludes the insurance from being placed outside of that country or requires insurance to be placed in the locality of that country.

  • Subject to United Nations resolutions or the trade or economic sanctions, laws or regulations of Singapore, Australia, European Union, United Kingdom or United States of America as per the Sanctions Limitations & Exclusions Clause
  • War and Strike, Riot and Civil Commotion risks for exposures in the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden and Southern Red Sea within the following boundaries:
    • on the northwest, by the Red Sea, south of Latitude 18°N;
    • on the northeast, from the Yemen border at 16°38.5’N, 53°6.5’E
    • to high seas point 14°55’N, 53°50’E;5,

Exclusions

There are certain conditions under which no benefits will be payable. These are stated as exclusions in the Policy contract. The following is a list of some of the exclusions for this plan. The exclusions for this plan include, but are not limited to, the following conditions. Insured Member is advised to read the Policy contract for the full list of exclusions.

 

  • Excluded Causes
    • moths, mould, mildew, insects, vermin & inherent vice of the Insured Goods
    • scratching, denting, chipping unless caused by fire, explosion, overturning and collision of the conveyance
    • mechanical, electrical or electronic derangement/ failure
    • electrical or magnetic damage to, or erasure of electronic or photographic images or recordings
    • loss or damage caused by misconduct
    • any known defect (including latent or inherent defects) in respect of the shipment
    • Defective, insufficient or improper packing, security or addressing
    • any action or omission of the Insured Members
    • hazardous, fragile or brittle nature or the mechanical derangement of the items shipped
    • any consequences of delay or confiscation by any competent authority as a result of the discovery of prohibited contents
    • any loss or damage delay or non-delivery of the article arising from the detention of the shipment by the customs or any government authority of the destination country
    • War and Strike except as provided in the policy.

     

  • Excluded Goods
    • Frozen, refrigerated, chilled or perishable products (Foodstuff) - E.g. meat, fish, vegetable and fruits
    • Toxic & infectious substances, narcotics and psychotropic substances, pharmaceuticals, plasma and/or blood products, drugs and medicines (except samples of poisons / toxins / drugs / medicines in prescription quantities which are packed and transmitted in the prescribed manner)
    • Live Goods (Living animals, plants and trees), livestock, bloodstock, prize animals or stud animals, or birds - E.g. bees, leeches, silkworms, orchids and roses
    • Any Goods capable of moving under their own power;
    • Money (which means any coin or banknote), bullion, cheques, credit or other card sales vouchers, securities, shares, bonds, deeds, bills of exchange, treasury notes, tickets, stamps or any documents that represent money
    • Designs and/or patterns and/or plans and/or manuscripts and all other documents
    • Electronic data or computer software held on computers or other hardware
    • Precious metals and stones, jewellery, watches, gems, works of art, artefacts, antiques, furs, luxury goods exceeding S$2,000 per shipment
    • Bulk consignments of Goods of any type;
    • Oxidizing materials – e.g. substances which yield oxygen readily, selected hair/textile dyes, bleaching powders and adhesives
    • Compressed Gas (flammable & non-flammable) – e.g. aerosol products, charged butane cigarette lighters and fire extinguishers
    • Radioactive goods or explosive goods including medical or research samples containing substances
    • Liquids of all types including flammable liquids in any form e.g. gasoline, flammable solvents, paints, and varnish removers
    • Cigarettes, tobacco, tobacco products, explosives, ammunition, fireworks, firearms, inters, fuses and caps for toy firearms
    • Corrosives including cleaning liquids, rust removers or preventative instruments containing mercury or battery fluid
    • Motor vehicles, motorcycles, trucks, tractors, and all non-mechanically propelled items such as caravans, trailers, horse boxes, boats, and the like and including any trailer or cradle to which they may be secured
    • Aircraft, watercraft, pleasure craft or boats
    • Flammable solids - E.g. matches of all kinds and cellulose nitrate films/substances which become dangerous when wet
    • Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods - E.g. materials having anesthetic, noxious, toxic or other characteristics which can cause extreme irritation or discomfort in the event of leakage; strongly magnetised materials; and toys containing batteries
    • Obscene or immoral articles / materials
    • Articles which are or are deemed to be illegal to import in the destination country

     

  • Additional Exclusions for Imports to Singapore
    • Any explosive or flammable substances;
    • Controlled drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act (Cap.185), except as authorized by that Act or the regulations made there under;
    • Poisons, including any preparation, solution, compounds, mixture or natural substances containing unless sent in accordance with the provisions of the Poisons Act (Cap.234)
    • Any other dangerous article or substance that is capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety or Property when transported by air;
    • Machine-skimmed or hand-skimmed milk;
    • Any arms, firearms or parts of firearms or any other lethal, barreled weapons of any description from which any shot, bullet or missile can be discharged or which can be adapted for the discharged of any such shot, bullet or missile or any weapons of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharged of any noxious liquid, gas or other thing or any component part of any weapon hereby prohibited to be posted;
    • Plants with soil or other growing or potting medium from any country except West Malaysia; or
    • Securities of any kind payable to bearer, banknotes, currency notes or travellers' cheque, unless sent by registered or insured post;
    • Laser pointers (requires appropriate licenses from NEA);
    • Any article consisting of or containing any public lottery ticket or any advertisement of prizes or any other announcement relating to any public lottery, sweepstake or other transaction. "Lottery ticket" and "public lottery" have the meanings respectively assigned to them in the Common Gaming Houses Act (Cap.49)
    • Any article liable to customs duty unless -
    • sent by parcel post, or enclosed in a letter packet or small packet for delivery in a country or place which admits such parcels or packets; and;
    • in the case of letter packets and small packets, bearing on the address side a green label giving the description, weight and the value of the articles enclosed;
    • Any article which by the laws of the country or place in which the postal articles posted or to which the postal article is addressed, it is unlawful to send by post;
    • Any pamphlet, magazine, newsletter or other type publication which is prohibited under any written law from being published, circulated or distributed in Singapore; or
    • Any bubble gum, or dental chewing gum, or any like substance prepared from gum base of vegetable or synthetic origin and intended for chewing.
    • Any person who contravenes or fails to comply shall be guilty of an offence.
