Packing Advice

Not sure how to best pack your items for shipping? Here are some tips that will help ensure your parcel gets to its destination in perfect condition.

 ContainersCushioningSealing

Small odd shapes

Use padded envelopes or small cardboard boxes      Use padding like cotton, wool, newspaper, foam or plastic bubble sheets to prevent shiftingUse adhesive flaps, staples or packaging tape

Fragile items

Use fibreboard boxes (at least 175Ib test)  Use foamed plastic or padding to distribute shocks and separate item from container surfaces   Use packaging tape for sealing and to reinforce edges

Awkward shapes

Use fibreboard boxes or tubes
  • Tube ends should equal side wall strength
  • Length should not measure 10 times more than girth
Use preformed fibreboard or foamed plastic shapes to brace item and support container's surface            Use packaging tapes (or glue for tube ends)

Powders

Use sift-proof containersNone necessary  Use packaging tapes (or glue for tube ends)

Soft goods

Use self-supporting boxes or tear-resistant bagsNone necessaryUse packaging tape or self-sealing bag

Shifting items

Use fibreboard boxes (at least 175Ib test, holding up to 20Ibs)               Use interior fibreboard separators or tape reinforcements to prevent shifting  Use packaging tape for sealing and to reinforce edges

High-density loads

Use fibreboard boxes (at least 175lb test, holding up to 20lbs)               Use interior fibreboard separators or tape reinforcements to prevent shifting  Use packaging tape for sealing and to reinforce edges
